Sensory Safe Haven was founded by Andrea Gallo in 2014. Andrea graduated from Seton Hall University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Social and Behavioral Science, and a Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2014. She has 11 years of experience working as an occupational therapist for the New York City Department of Education, as well as at various agencies for early intervention services. Andrea most recently earned her advanced certification and is board certified in pediatric occupational therapy through the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), is a certified autism specialist, a certified primitive reflex integration clinical specialist, and has attended continuing education courses on DIR floortime. Andrea is in the process of obtaining STAR Institute's Level 1 Professional Credential in Sensory Processing. She has experience working with children with ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, dyslexia, oppositional defiant disorder, developmental coordination disorders, mitochondrial disorder, low muscle tone, high muscle tone, seizure disorders, failure to thrive, cognitive disorders, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, feeding difficulties, learning disabilities, and stroke/cerebrovascular accident (CVA).
